RBC Investments 6th Annual Canadian Painting Competition

A history of success

Established in 1999, RBC Investments Canadian Painting Competition is an exciting opportunity sponsored by RBC Investments® in partnership with the Canadian Art Foundation which aims to foster the innovative vision of Canada’s emerging visual artists.

How the 2004 competition works

A regional jury panel comprised of highly esteemed members of the arts community for Eastern, Central and Western Canada will each select five semi-finalists. A total of 15 semi-finalists from across Canada will then be offered a place in our cross-country painting competition tour. The jury panels will then select one finalist to represent their region in the next level of the competition. From the three finalists presented to the national jury, one ultimate winner and two honourable mentions will be chosen.

The national winner will receive a cash purchase prize of $10,000 and will be featured in the Winter 2004 issue of Canadian Art magazine, and on the Web at www.canadianart.ca and www.rbcinvestments.com/paintingcompetition. The two honourable mentions will receive a cash purchase prize of $7,000 each. All three pieces will be added to the extensive contemporary art collection owned by RBC Investments.

All artwork submitted must be available for exhibition for a period of at least four months, as well as for purchase. Previously submitted work is not eligible, nor is work which has been published in any form prior to the competition.
